Day 97: Super Bunny

SB was the leader of the Unfamous 5 back in the day. He was a gruff guy who was annoyed by the stupidity of his teammates. SB was one who generally figured out the plots of the the villains and, like a good leader, led the charge into battle. He has the ability to fly and emit sonic blasts from his mouth.

Day 96: Sandra Frost

Sandra is one of the villains who is constantly fighting Gene and Jerry to take back Lorenzo. She tries to use her seductive ways to get what she wants from her enemies but when all else fails, she has an ice gun.

Day 95: Chrono

Chrono is a scientist who was contracted my Blade to look into the possibility of time travel. After he cracked it, Chrono decided to use his time travel belt for his own uses (mostly just visiting various periods in time).

Whenever I do the time travel episode, Chrono will be the main cause of said time travel. Spoilers ensue. Basically, a misunderstanding occurs and Domino and the gang mistake Chrono for a bad guy and a fight breaks out. Chrono tries using his belt to escape but Domino tackles him at the last second, causing them to travel years into the future.

That's all for now, story-wise. I'll work more on it later.

Day 94: Suzie

Suzie is Mr. Lightning's little sister. After being subjected to an experiment by their scientist father, Suzie was given mechanical hair. He can produce a plethora of things from it so she's pretty cool. She was one of the last to join the Unfamous 5 team and has grown pretty fond of Midget-Man.

Day 93: Coach Widdershin

Coach is Matty's grandfather. In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player...now being unbelievably old, he's still going for it. In the meantime, he coaches Garakuta's local little league team (they're terrible, by the way). When he's not coaching the baseball team or lecturing Matty, he's usually out drinking with Uhmo and Gordy.

Day 92: Starmin

Starmin is another doodle-type character. I like drawing it but I have no idea what I'll do with it (I don't know what gender it is either).

Day 91: Gordy

Gordy is an alien who lives in Matty's grandfather's basement. He works from home as a telemarketer and spends his spare time torrenting stuff off the internet (clearly a bad influence). Gordy is also best friends with Matty's grandfather and Uhmo.

Day 90: Katana

Katana is...well, a ninja. Clearly. She does ninja stuff. Katana is also a good friend of Murdock, though there is some romantic tension between them.

Day 89: Lord Vroomfondel

Lord Vroomfondel is a man well versed in dark magic. He's very enigmatic and rarely speaks so not much is known about him. No one even knows what he looks like under his massive cloak.

Despite naming this character years ago, I just learned that "Vroomfondel" is a character in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Interesting.

Day 88: Satan

Satan was the main antagonist of my old Jamie & Ryan comic (the one Garth and Whale-Man also originated from). Despite being the main bad guy, he was pretty terrible at being evil. He performed a few kidnappings but that was about as evil as he ever got. Satan was more or less just seen as an annoyance to the main characters. Occasionally, you'd see glimpses into Satan's home life. After a hard day of running Hell, Satan would come home to his wife, Mrs. Satan, his baby, Satan Jr. and his senile father, Grandpa Satan. Now that I think about it, maybe Satan's visits to Earth and bugging Jamie and Ryan might have been to escape his family for a few minutes. I dunno.

Day 87: Johnny Helmet

Johnny is known as one of Tooworld's best Magic Monster Card players (basically a bad parody of Yu-Gi-Oh, complete with summoning monsters into real life and such). Katherine beat Johnny once, kind of accidentally and he's been trying to get revenge ever since.

Day 86: Midget-Man

Midget-Man was one of the last to join the Unfamous 5 team. He's also one of the youngest. As you can probably guess, he has the incredible power to shrink...which doesn't have any practical applications in battle. I think he had a big straw that shoot spitwads out of but I kind of forget how often they came up in the old comic.

Day 85: Jerry

Jerry is Gene's best friend/roommate. He is mostly a worrier and is easily panicked. Jerry works at some computer maintenance company in Suburbantown and his slacking of with Gene gets him in constant trouble. When the various supervillains come to town to reclaim Lorenzo, Jerry is quick to try and run away but when backed into a corner, Jerry can hold his own. Holly "tolerates" Jerry.

Day 84: Lorenzo

Lorenzo escaped from a secret organization who wanted to use him as a weapon. He now crashes with Gene and Jerry, as he enjoys just hanging out instead of fighting. Although, he does have the ability to turn into a giant robot when angered. Lorenzo is actually pretty smart (smart by robot standards anyway). While he does enjoy hanging with Gene and Jerry but finds them intellectually boring. He greatly enjoys Holly's visits since she can actually have a smart conversation.

Day 83: Gene

Gene is Holly's idiot boyfriend. He lives in an apartment with his best friend Jerry and Lorenzo the Robot. Gene spends a lot of his time slacking off and playing video games. He works as pizza delivery guy and he's not a very good one. Gene hopes to one day own his own comic shop. He's also pretty good fighter. When he and Jerry aren't goofing off, they occasionally have to defend Suburbantown from the villains who are trying to recover Lorenzo but more on that later.

Day 82: Boss Crow

Sure, there's a lot of supervillains trying to take over Toonworld but there's also plenty of regular criminals! These are the kinds of bad guys that Rick deals with.

Boss Crow runs the Blackwing Mafia in Toonopolis. He's basically what you'd expect from a typical Italian-ish mob boss. The rest of the mob is populated by almost identical-looking little crows.

Day 81: Chunkers

Chunkers is kind of a joke character my friend and I came up with a while back. He pretty much just hangs out in the background and does random things or nothing at all.. Chunkers has also been known to try to eat people passing by.

Day 80: Super Bug

The third and final Hunter. I've actually revised SB's design quite a bit over the years and I think I've finally got him how I like him. Kind of like a "bug knight" or something. Anyway, the spikes all over SB are poisonous and he's been known to slash his enemies with them. The spikes on his arms are able to grow, forming even bigger blades to slash with. SB is also an extremely fast flyer.

Day 79: Zom-Bot

Another Hunter, Zom-Bot is...well, a zombie robot. His main method of attack is transforming him hydraulic legs into a point and spin around like a top. By extending his axe-like arms while spinning, Zom-Bot can create what looks like a circular blade around his body, which can cut through almost anything. With his high-powered mechanical legs, Zom-Bot is also known to try to stomp on his enemies.

Day 78: Mr. Stretch

Apologies for the lateness of this. I haven't been in a very artistic mood the last couple of days...

Anyway, Mr. Stretch is part of a small group known as the Hunters. Essentially, these guys are the elite of the elite when it comes to bad guys. They're so good at being evil that they've been locked up in high security prisons for pretty much their whole lives. If I use them at all, these guys won't appear till sometime towards the end of the [Sketchpad] series.

Stretch here, if you couldn't tell by his name, can stretch his body to incredible lengths, making it very hard to escape from him. He likes very keen to high places, like rooftops and walls, making it easy to get the jump on his target. When he takes off his sunglasses, he can also release a energy blast that if hit by it, a person can be immediately paralyzed and put into a coma-like state.

Day 77: Bigfoot

After toying with the idea of the "city-licensed heroes", I started thinking about other heroes who would be stationed elsewhere. I dug up Bigfoot here, who I created a while back. I always imagined him being kind of like an environmental superhero. So, I think I'll play around with the licensed heroes being in places other than Toonopolis.

Bigfoot lives out in the forest (in which I've yet to actually give a name. I swear I need to draw a map of some kind). He's the vigilant guardian of those who dwell in or visit his woods. He has super-strength and can fly. I could never decided on whether or not Bigfoot could talk though...leaning towards letting him talk. What I do know if that is is constantly plagued by the park ranger, Ranger Frank, who thinks Bigfoot is upstaging him. Bigfoot also has somewhat of a kid sidekick, Katie, who is Ranger Frank's niece.

Day 76: Benny

Benny is, in simple terms, a "wild child". He's hyperactive, speaks in some unintelligible dialect and is nearly impossible to control. It's this kind of raw energy that makes him attractive to Craven. Benny is one of Craven's many friends in the town of Doog and is generally used by Craven to commit crazy acts of destruction. No one is sure why Benny is the way he is but one thing is for sure, he can seriously break a lot of stuff in a short amount of time. Oh yeah, and he refuses to wear anything but his underwear.

Day 75: Mighty Weasel

This guy harkens back to the Unfamous 5 days. In the old comic, MW worked for Blade, running his own team called the Unmentionables (of which Burner and ESP were a part). Blade hired MW and his team to take on the Unfamous 5, so he could move on with his plans undisturbed. Needless to say, Blade was defeated but MW and the Unmentionables remained as regularly reoccurring villains. As I remember, MW was a pretty straight character. He was serious about his job and kept his team in line.

Day 74: Brawlder

Brawlder used to be part of Boggar's gang (there used to be 6-7 members of the gang) but I decided to shorten it to just 3 people and Brawlder got cut. He'll appear in [Sketchpad] somehow. Maybe as a professional fighter (what with the boxing gloves). He may be a bad guy, a good guy...who knows.

Day 73: Soulbird

If it isn't obvious, Souldbird is a hippie. He lives out in the forest and communes with nature. I haven't really developed him at all so who knows what he'll turn into.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Day 72: Jack Flash

Jack is another city-liscenced hero (there's quite a few of these guys) but unlike the other heroes, Jack works alongside the police department more, solving supervillain-related cases. He is gifted with super speed, which allows him to do a lot of his detective work fast and without notice. Jack can get a little physical when he needs to be, especially when it comes to extracting information from suspects. Otherwise, Jack's a good dude.

Day 71: Garth

Garth is from another old comic I did in middle school, titled Jamie & Ryan. This series was basically an excuse to draw my friends and I doing stupid, crazy things. I remember it being quite popular in our circle, though that may just be because the people reading it were the main characters.

Anyway, somewhere in the midlife of the series, my character (Jamie) found Garth, an alien who crash-landed into Jamie's roof. Jamie decided to keep Garth as a pet because, hey, who wouldn't keep a diminutive alien as a pet? Garth's speech is a special kind of backwards speech. All his words are arranged as they would be in normal English but all the individual words would be reversed (Yllacisab, sih hceeps dluow kool ekil siht). Garth was on a mission to destroy the Earth but since he was so small and no one would understand him, he was pretty unsuccessful.

Day 70: Frad and Danny

These two delightful gentlemen are the operators of Frad's Pawn Shop, conveniently located across the street from Gus' Diner.

Frad is the owner of Toonopolis' most well-known pawn shop. If you want a good deal on some useless junk you've got laying around, Frad is your man...er, cockroach-man. Frad is a very friendly guy...maybe too friendly. He acts buddy-buddy with everyone, even people he's never met before. Frad is also old friends with Gus.

Danny is Frad's business partner. If you can't tell (and sometimes I can't), Danny is a key, gifted with the ability to open any lock. He comes in handy when patrons come in with old locked chests, jewelry boxes or what have you. Danny isn't as much of a people person as Frad. He'll occasionally yell at a customer if they browse around the shop too long or ask a stupid question. Despite that, Danny is one hell of a businessman.

Day 69: Uhmo

Apologies for the lack of the update the last couple of days. No excuse except that I was being lazy.

Uhmo is an ancient dragon who dwells in a well-furnished cave outside Garakuta. He is good friends with Matty's grandfather and...well, he's a bit of an alcoholic. Uhmo is usually downing bottles of sake and after consuming enough, he can breathe fire. Yeah, that's what you need. A drunk fire-breathing dragon with 4x tunnel vision (he has four eyes).
